Monday, September 21, 2026 - At least two people were killed and 20 others injured Sunday in drone attacks by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on residential neighborhoods in El-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan state, according to the Sudan Doctors Network.
The medical group said the RSF targeted several neighborhoods with guided drones from dawn until midday, causing civilian casualties and damage to property.
The Sudan Doctors Network described the attacks as a repetition of alleged RSF violations against civilians, warning that the strikes were endangering lives and worsening the city's already difficult humanitarian and health conditions.
The group called on RSF leadership to halt the attacks. There was no immediate comment from the RSF.
The latest strikes add to the growing civilian toll from drone warfare across Sudan. The United Nations said in August that about 1,100 civilians had been killed in drone attacks across the country between January and June 2026.
Sudan's war between the army and the RSF has continued to cause widespread displacement and severe humanitarian needs, with Kordofan remaining one of the key areas affected by the fighting.
